Assistant Project Manager

Gallo Mechanical is looking for a Mechanical Construction Assistant Project Manager to join our high-performing service team. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will work closely with Project Managers to manage the entire life cycle of a project from inception through to closure. The Assistant Project Manager shall ensure that the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively in accordance with the agreed budget, schedule, quality, and to exceed the client’s expectations.

To achieve these important goals, working with Project Managers, the Assistant Project Manager will help define project requirements and scope, manage project costs, manage field labor, and manage subcontractors.

Efficient delivery of project deliverables, effective quality control, clear communication of expectations to stakeholders, and upward reporting to senior management are critical tasks that must be performed throughout each project’s lifecycle. The Assistant Project Manager will also develop and maintain long-term customer relationships to foster better communication and develop future work.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and oversee mechanical and plumbing projects of various sizes and complexities.
• Responsible for managing the installation of HVAC and Plumbing that meet code requirements, budget, and on-time installation.
• Evaluate estimates and work with GMS Operations to properly set up jobs in the system with correct labor, material, and subcontract cost codes.
• Negotiate and prepare vendor and subcontractor purchase orders and evaluate submittals to reflect contract drawings and specifications.
• Participate in monthly project backlog reviews – keep all participants and stakeholders informed to bring the job in on time and under budget.
• Build and maintain strong customer relations with subcontractors, vendors, internal customers, and owners.
• Coordinate with field personnel including field supervisors, technicians, and helpers.
• Maintain a safe and secure work environment through maintaining safety meetings, incident investigations, and employee involvement.

IDEAL EXPERIENCE &

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 1-3 years of experience in construction, mechanical, plumbing, or service project support.
• Field Experience in mechanical or plumbing service (commercial or industrial) is a plus.
• Demonstrated knowledge in construction management principles, practices and methods, environmental regulations, engineering project management methods, workplace safety, budgeting, employee supervision and personnel management.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. He or she should be competent in handling simultaneously occurring tasks and smaller projects.
• Ability to solve complex, multi-faceted problems using various problem-solving techniques.
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Possess analytical and mathematical skills, quick thinking, and a solid understanding of the main principles of engineering, construction, and architecture.
• This position will consist of a combination of office, job site, and field interaction
• Will require occasional site visits and flexible hours to support service work
