What will I be doing?The Director of Sales & Marketing will oversee commercial strategies for the hotel, aiming to improve asset performance by connecting strategy and business processes. Hilton’s Commercial Services organization drives sales, revenue, marketing, catering and events management, call centers, and analytics functions as the core of Hilton’s commercial engine for profitable growth.
- Produce the hotel’s Annual Multi-Year Commercial Strategy Plan, in partnership with on-property leaders and regional support
- Connect the hotel’s performance needs with solutions designed by the Hilton enterprise in each key segment the hotel serves
- Direct accountability for setting the strategy and delivery of the hotel’s revenues, including group rooms, banquets, catering, business transient, and leisure transient
- Work with Commercial Leadership to ensure Business Review Guidelines and Group Pricing & Rate Quotation Strategies maximize pricing components of sales and catering opportunities and achieve positive group market share
- Support hotel B2B marketing, digital marketing, social media, public relations and communications activities; guide the e-commerce teams to ensure online hotel content is accurate and effective
- Collaborate with Commercial Leaders to establish optimal business mix, review and validate revenue forecasts, and develop strategies for different demand periods; review and approve retail and group pricing strategies
- Work with fellow Executive Committee members to maximize profits in line with GOP and EBITDA targets
- Develop and manage departmental expense budgets and forecasts
- Maintain detailed, real-time knowledge of competitor and market activity
- Responsible for the execution of the Sales and Catering Sales annual SIP (Sales Incentive Program)
- Lead weekly, monthly, and quarterly Sales & Marketing Optimization Process for the hotel and translate outcomes into actionable business strategies
- Contribute to annual Commercial Cadence communications on performance and performance drivers
- Conform to Hilton brand standards and corporate identity; utilize all communication tools
- Recruitment and retention of all sales and marketing roles
- Lead, engage, and develop team members with ongoing performance development and career plans
- Conduct performance reviews for direct reports and provide feedback for dotted-line reports (e.g., Group Sales, Business Transient Sales, Leisure Sales, Catering Sales, Marketing)
- Foster a culture aligned with Hilton’s DEI and ESG enterprise goals
- Own performance and commercial activity reporting for the hotel, including status communication and response plans
- Present commercial strategies to key business partners and ownership groups in concert with AVPs, Regional Commercial Director, and General Managers; ensure transparency and timeliness
- Liaise with Hilton Worldwide Sales, regional support, and brand teams
- Build strong relationships with CVB, community influencers, and 3rd party travel partners
- Maintain high engagement with customers from all sales segments
- Support high-impact site visits and pre-convention meetings; assist sales managers with travel to feeder markets
To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
- Hotel Sales, Catering or Marketing experience
- Leadership and management experience
- Ability to travel
- Experience in hotel management or related industry essential
- Highly professional presentations and communication skills (oral and written)
- Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office
- Ability to perform critical analysis
