Position Summary

ESC is seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Controller to serve as a key member of the leadership team. Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the COO, the Controller provides strategic financial leadership while maintaining direct responsibility for day-to-day accounting, HR, and administrative operations.

This role requires a proactive leader who can balance executive-level strategy with detailed operational execution in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as financial leader and trusted advisor to the CEO and COO
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, projections, labor analysis, and bonus calculations
  • Perform “what-if” financial modeling to support strategic decisions
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, financial policies, and procedures
  • Coordinate annual tax preparation with CPA and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Own financial processes within Connect Wise, including contracts, billing, pricing, and reconciliations
  • Ensure data integrity between Connect Wise and Quick Books
  • Serve as Quick Books System Administrator
  • Maintain chart of accounts, vendors, customers, payroll, AP/AR, and balance sheet reconciliations
Banking, Investments & Corporate Administration
  • Manage banking relationships, cash flow, loans, and covenants
  • Oversee investments, grants, and financial reconciliations
  • Review financial and legal contracts
  • Maintain corporate records, insurance compliance, and state filings
Human Resources & Payroll
  • Oversee bi-weekly payroll and all payroll reporting
  • Lead HR operations including recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and separations
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, ACA, workers’ compensation, and unemployment
  • Supervise and mentor the bookkeeper and office staff
  • Support employee engagement, recognition programs, and company events
  • Manage vendor relationships, procurement, and fixed assets
  • Oversee commission reporting and variance analysis
  • Document and improve internal processes and operational workflows
  • Support executive leadership with special projects and initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience;
    Controller-level experience strongly preferred
  • Strong Quick Books experience;
    Connect Wise or similar PSA/ERP experience preferred
  • Background in managed services, IT, telecom, or project-based environments a plus
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll, tax compliance, and internal controls
  • Proven ability to lead while remaining hands-on
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
