overview
highly responsible administrative and supervisory work in directing one or more phases of the parkways maintenance program; and related work as required.
promotional eligibilitypromotional — permanent status as a parkways maintenance section assistant (formerly titled parkways maintenance supervisor iv) and two (2) years of experience as parkways maintenance section assistant, parkways maintenance supervisor iv, or any combination thereof.
original entrance eligibilityoriginal entrance — eight (8) years of full-time supervisory experience in tree maintenance and surgery, the maintenance of large turf areas using a variety of grass mowing equipment, or in the propagation and maintenance of a large variety of plant life.
note: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in forestry, park management, agronomy, landscape architecture, horticulture, botany, plant science, floriculture or closely related field may be substituted for five (5) years of the required experience.
note: candidates for forestry positions must also possess a current louisiana arborist license. Licensure will be verified by civil service via the louisiana department of forestry & agriculture.

a rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes; however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years.
