Overview

Director, Research Administration Service, SOM role at Tulane University. The unit provides pre-award and post-award research administration services to faculty. The Director directly manages, leads, and supervises staff performing pre- and post-award activities for the sponsored projects research portfolio for their assigned department, division, or school/schools. The Director will report to the Associate Vice President, Research Administration.

Responsibilities
  • Directly manage, lead, and supervise staff performing pre-award and post-award activities for the sponsored projects portfolio within the assigned department, division, or school(s).
  • Provide strategic direction for research administration services and ensure compliance with relevant rules and policies.
  • Coordinate with university offices and processes related to grant and contract submission and management.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Knowledge of federal rules and regulations relating to research grant and/or contract activity
  • Knowledge of University policies and procedures relating to grant and contracts activity
  • Knowledge of University processes, systems and offices related to and/or involved in grant and contract submission and management
  • High-level interpersonal skills
  • Ability to analyze data and formulate conclusions
  • Ability to influence and motivate direct reports
  • Ability to assign and prioritize duties across staff
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to create verbal and written reports
  • Proficient use of computers; solid working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint)
Required Education And/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree, 7 years of effective work-related grants and contracts management, and 3 years of direct supervisory and management experience
  • OR High School Diploma/equivalent and 13 years of direct experience
