Job Description
Works a 5 am to 3:30 pm or 3:30 pm to 1:30 am shift under the direction of a foreman, measures and cuts pipe to specified length called out on sketch.
Functional RequirementsRead and sign off on JSA prior to starting shift. Interprets sketches, able to identify all grades of material listed on sketches, transfer heat numbers from pipe to sketch when required, good math skills required: add and subtract dimensions, read a tape measure. Perform preventative maintenance such as greasing, conduct daily inspections ensuring safety guards are in place and checking for leaks in hydraulic hoses, air lines, and torch cutting equipment.
Operate plasma and/or oxy‑fuel cutting equipment and maintain a clean, safe work environment at all times.
- Must be able to work either the 5 am–3:30 pm shift or the 3:30 pm–1:30 am shift.
- Preferably one to two (1–2) years of experience in the specified skill area.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Ability to lay out and cut pipe, or willingness to learn.
- Capable of working in a team setting.
- Post‑offer drug/alcohol screening and physical evaluation.
- Required personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirt, gloves, steel‑toe boots, etc.
- Climbing ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc. above and below ground level.
- Maintaining balance on ladders, scaffolds, structures, etc.
- Reaching in all directions, handling and manipulating objects and materials.
- Coordinating eye, hand, and finger movements to operate tools and equipment.
- Lifting 30–50 pounds from ground level, waist level, or overhead.
- Standing, sitting, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling, crouching/squatting, crawling.
- Seeing and hearing with or without correction.
- Follow set procedures and standards; apply basic mathematical skills.
- Plan work and select proper tools.
- Compare and understand differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects; picture and evaluate solid objects from drawings or diagrams.
- Use standards that can be measured or checked.
- Judge distances and slopes accurately.
- Follow oral and/or written directions; read, write, and recognize and report safety hazards.
- Location:
industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop. - Mobility barriers: uneven ground levels, obstructed pathways, work performed at low or high elevations, work performed in confined areas.
- Climatic/
Environmental conditions:
outdoor climate; exposure to extreme hot or cold weather, excessive humidity, rain; various noise levels from tools, machinery, equipment; potential exposure to chemical substances.
There may be times when the individual is required to perform a task other than their normal operation as directed by the company or the foreman, depending on job demand.
CompensationSalary: $15.00 per hour.
