Property Maintenance Assistant

Perform semi-skilled work in the maintenance of county property such as, cleaning, painting, mowing, snow removal and assisting mechanics.

• Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance in order to perform assigned tasks. Locations may vary as needed.
• Housekeeping of facilities and grounds, sweeps, mop, scrub, polish, vacuum.
• Prepare surface and paint, interior and exterior.
• Operates motorized equipment, pickup truck w/ snowplow, utility terrain vehicles, skid loader, lawn mower, snow blower, weed trimer and other outdoor grounds upkeep equipment.
• Change out light bulbs as needed.
• Minor plumbing duties, clogged sinks, lavatories.
• Lifting and moving heavy furniture and equipment.
• Performs inventory and compliance audits.
• Performs site survey of county owned properties.
• Travel to pick up and drop off parts.
• Perform minor vehicle and equipment maintenance, changing oil, filters, washing/cleaning.
• Other duties as assigned

• Supervision is received from Facilities Operations Manager.

• No Functional and Administrative supervision is exercised over support staff.

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required.
• Job-related experience performing duties and responsibilities as outlined preferred.
• Must have a valid Iowa Driver's License and be insurable under the county's guidelines.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• May be required to work varying hours including weekends.
