Overview
Sessions, Israel & Shartle, LLC is a national law firm with 11 offices. We have the nation’s largest practice group dedicated to defending against consumer claims while representing debt collection agencies, creditors, banks, debt buyers, student loan servicers, telemarketers, and other financial institutions.
RoleWe need 3 Pre-Suit Paralegals to help our consumer defense litigation practice group. The paralegal will play a critical role in managing and responding to debt collection and credit reporting consumer complaints.
Responsibilities- Utilize judgement and analytical skills to assess allegations, identify relevant facts, and determine appropriate response
- Review client information and verify that such information is accurate and responsive
- Draft and issue clear and accurate written response letters to claimants
- Assist with identifying trends, recurring issues, and opportunities for process improvement related to complaints
- Utilize judgement to determine and report serious issues to supervising attorney
- Identify risk exposure and compliance concerns during complaint review.
- Maintain tasks and deadlines via a computerized docket management system to ensure timely filings.
- Maintain detailed records of complaints, responses, and supporting documentation
- Preparing document drafts and supplemental documents/exhibits needed for the filings.
- Some clerical duties, including answering calls, mail, etc.
- Maintain time for Firm billing system.
- Paralegal certificate and associate or bachelor’s degree
- Proficiency with MS Office (i.e., Word, Outlook, Excel, Access), Teams, PowerPoint and PDF software.
- Proficiency in a paperless environment.
- Professional demeanor and discretion when handling sensitive consumer information
- Ability to adapt and prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to document time and proof of value for client billing.
- 3-5 years of experience in a defense law firm environment and demonstrated knowledge of litigation processes.
- Ability to communicate with clients.
- Ability to work independently
- Self-driven with a desire to learn and improve continuously.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment with organizational skills and able to produce high quality work.
- Excellent and consistent attention to detail.
- Familiarity with the FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA and related consumer protection laws
- Pro Law experience a plus.
- E-filing experience
- Vacation time.
