Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a highly experienced General Counsel to lead and elevate the legal function for a well-established marine supply and services organization headquartered in the Gulf Coast region. The company has a long history dating back to the mid-20th century and operates as a major wholesale distributor of marine parts, equipment, and technical services — including electrical, hydraulic, deck crane/davit sales and installations, life raft and inflatable boat servicing, precision propeller repair, and a broad range of support services for commercial and government maritime clients.

As General Counsel, you will serve as the chief legal officer and a key strategic advisor to the executive leadership team, directly shaping legal and business strategies within a dynamic industrial distribution environment.

Essential Duties
  • Serve as the primary legal advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on all legal, regulatory, and corporate governance matters.
  • Develop and implement legal strategy that aligns with overall business objectives and mitigates enterprise-wide risk.
  • Oversee all aspects of the company’s legal affairs, including corporate governance, compliance, commercial transactions, contract negotiation, intellectual property rights, insurance and indemnity matters, and dispute resolution.
  • Lead and manage internal legal operations and external counsel, optimizing legal spend and ensuring high-quality representation in litigation or arbitration.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor agreements, supply and service contracts, licensing arrangements, and government procurement agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations impacting marine equipment distribution, services, and safety standards.
  • Provide legal counsel on employment and labor issues in partnership with HR, ensuring compliant policies and procedures.
  • Proactively identify legal risks to business units and partner with senior leadership to implement risk mitigation strategies.
  • Direct internal investigations and reporting efforts linked to ethics, compliance violations, or potential liabilities.
  • Represent the organization in high-stakes negotiations and crisis management situations.
Requirements/Skills
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of substantive legal practice with progressive responsibility; experience in general counsel, senior in-house counsel, or law firm roles preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, litigation management, and governance best practices.
  • Prior experience with supply chain, distribution, industrial equipment, or marine-related legal matters strongly preferred.
  • Excellent judgment, strategic thinking, and business acumen with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for non-legal audiences.
  • Strong negotiation, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment and to lead cross-functional initiatives.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at desk and working on computer systems; occasional travel to marine facilities, client sites, or industry events may be required.
  • Ability to participate in on-site visits to warehouses, yards, or service operations as needs dictate.
