Job Summary
The Hyatt Regency New Orleans is seeking an Assistant Director of Operations who will work in both the Food & Beverage and Rooms Division. This role, located in a four‑diamond, luxury hotel, is a highly compensated position responsible for assisting the Executive Committee with the management of the Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, eight Food & Beverage venues, and Banquets and Convention Services teams.
The hotel has 1,193 rooms, 75 suites, 200,000 square feet of banquet and exhibit space, and 52 venues for off‑premise catering events. The Assistant Director will lead a staff of 70 hourly associates and 12 Assistant Managers/Department Managers within the Rooms Division, 170 hourly associates and 12 Assistant Managers/Department Managers within the Food & Beverage Division, and will work with and manage over 100 contracted associates in various departments.
• Assist the Executive Committee in strategic operations planning for Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Banquets, and Convention Services.
• Oversee daily operations across all functional areas, ensuring exceptional service and performance standards.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and training for both full‑time and contracted associates.
• Develop and implement operational policies, procedures, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with department managers to drive profitability, guest satisfaction, and operational efficiency.
- Current Director of Operations at a small to mid‑sized property, ready to take a leap into a high‑volume convention property.
- Current Director of Food & Beverage or Rooms at a small to mid‑sized property, eager to learn the other side.
- Current Assistant Director of Food & Beverage or Rooms, prepared to expand operations knowledge.
- Experience as a department head in at least two departments of a medium‑size hotel.
- 4‑year college degree from an accredited university.
- Solid work history with no frequent job changes and strong professional references.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with diverse backgrounds.
- Service‑oriented style with professional presentation skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
