technical and administrative work in coordinating a safety program that includes safety education and training, investigating accidents, and performing departmental safety inspections and related duties as required.

• baseline qualifications: bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in occupational safety, industrial management or technology, industrial engineering, safety management or a closely related field, plus one (1) year of full‑time experience in the field of industrial or occupational safety or safety management.
• alternative qualifications: bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field, plus two (2) years of full‑time experience in the field of industrial or occupational safety or safety management.
• verification requirement: prior to appointment, the hiring agency must verify the education claimed by the applicant. If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency before their start date in this job classification.
