The Safety Technician role is a hands‑on position responsible for day‑to‑day safety activities in shop and field environments. This position conducts routine inspections, leads safety meetings and training, assists with incident investigations, and helps reinforce a strong safety culture throughout the organization. The Safety Technician identifies hazards, helps maintain compliance with safety requirements, and supports a safe, organized, and efficient work environment while operating under established procedures and general supervision.

- Develop and implement safety measures across both shop and field operations by maintaining and updating safety standards and documentation, actively promoting a positive safety culture, and working with operations to maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses by participating in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and reviewing findings with management and employees to support corrective actions.
- Conduct weekly safety meetings and training sessions using presentations, safety literature, and internal or external resources.
- Perform shop audits and inspections, including monthly shop inspections, annual audits, quarterly and annual rigging inspections, and routine inspections of ladders, harnesses, and eyewash stations.
- Identify workplace hazards and develop mitigation strategies by introducing safer methods of performing tasks and teaching employees basic risk assessment practices.
- Support emergency preparedness efforts by maintaining Incident Action Plans and Emergency Action Plans, coordinating and participating in emergency response drills, supporting CPR/AED training, and ensuring first aid supplies are stocked and available.
- Assist with environmental safety efforts by helping manage hazardous waste handling and ensuring proper waste storage practices at company facilities.
- Support equipment and tool safety by working with Facilities to maintain safe operating equipment and safety apparatus, and by researching, maintaining, and integrating safer tooling options.
- Support compliance with outside agencies by tracking, scheduling, maintaining, and updating site safety training requirements, and by providing required safety information to outside agencies and vendors.
- Manage injury reporting by ensuring all workplace injuries are reported to proper authorities, working with HR on short‑term and long‑term disability cases, and assisting with Workers’ Compensation claims.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical training, safety coursework, or trade experience preferred.
- 2–5 years of experience in safety, industrial, manufacturing, construction, or shop/field environments.
- Working knowledge of workplace safety practices, including inspections, hazard identification, incident reporting, and basic root cause analysis.
- Ability to conduct safety inspections and audits and to lead or facilitate safety meetings or training sessions.
- Familiarity with environmental and waste-handling practices, including hazardous waste storage requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to work independently while collaborating with operations, facilities, HR, and supervision.
