Overview
Staff Psychologist - Tulane University. This position is with the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team in New Orleans.
As part of CAPS, you'll provide individual and group therapy, urgent assessments, consultations, and outreach programming, while collaborating with campus partners and contributing to prevention and education efforts. The role also offers opportunities for advocacy, liaison work, and program development.

- Provide student mental health services including urgent walk-in assessments, individual psychotherapy, group therapy, and workshops.
- Design and deliver outreach programs to students and develop materials and presentations for university constituencies.
- Act as a liaison to campus departments or groups as assigned by the Director; may coordinate or advocate for a specified area.
- Engage in data collection and analysis and program coordination as needed.
- Participate in Campus Health, therapist team, and Counseling Center staff meetings and trainings.
Required:
- Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program and completion of an APA-approved internship by the date of hire.
- Licensed to practice psychology in the State of Louisiana. Must be licensed in Louisiana within 18 months of hire date.
- Outstanding oral and written communication skills, able to dialog effectively with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff.
Preferred:
- Previous experience delivering group interventions (interpersonal, support, skill-building).
- Experience working with university students in a university counseling setting.
- Training and experience working with substance abuse issues and suicide.
- Experience working with BIPOC students, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ students, and international students.
- Demonstrated ability to handle spontaneous work demands while undertaking projects that require advanced planning.
This position is considered ESSENTIAL - Level 1. During emergent situations at the university you may be called upon to support the Student Affairs response (e.g., hurricanes, weather-related incidents). Your supervisor will discuss the specific responsibilities as appropriate. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Staff Handbook.
