Certified Medical Assistant – Rural Health Clinic

Job Description

The Baton Rouge Clinic seeks a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to deliver quality nursing care to patients of our Rural Health clinic in Slaughter, LA. The CMA will assist physicians with patient care, scheduling, injections, pre‑cert procedures, referrals, Rx call‑ins, and phone triage.

• Provide patient care as a member of the health care team within scope of the license.
• Follow nursing policies, procedures, and protocols and implement them appropriately in adult patient care.
• Give instructions to patients regarding treatment plan, medications, and follow‑up.
• Communicate effectively with other health care team members and document accurately in medical records.
• Greet patients with a smile, complete registration forms, and give instructions.
• Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint, medications) in my Chart.
• Prepare patients for examinations and perform routine screening tests.
• Provide patient education regarding medications and instructions set by the provider.
• Triage emergency situations.
• Prepare and administer medications with physician authorization.
• Handle refill requests and prior authorizations for medications.

• Current Louisiana Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant license.
• At least 1 year of experience in a clinical setting.
• Excellent communication skills and a patient‑focused work ethic.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proactive, effective verbal and written communication.
