* Job Description:
**** A Brief Overview
** The Speech Therapist is responsible for the evaluation, planning, direction and administering Speech Therapy modalities of treatment as prescribed by a provider. Administer speech therapy treatments as prescribed by a referring physician in an effort to restore function and prevent disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities.
** What you will do
*** Performs an appropriate assessment on patients as related to therapy requested with reassessment and documentation on progress toward goals per policy. Plan, organize, and conduct speech therapy programs in health system or community settings to rehabilitate those impaired because of illness, injury, psychological or developmental problems. Includes patients of all ages 0-100+ as therapists are comfortable and qualified.
* Review available medical record and analyze medical data to determine realistic rehabilitation goals for patients.
* Observe and evaluate treatment effectiveness and make care plan adjustments as needed.
* Ensures patient charges are accurate and entered on a timely basis.
* Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs and evaluates effectiveness of learning. Family is included in teaching as appropriate. Printed materials are included as appropriate. Family and caregivers are included in training on home programs and other recommendations for aftercare.
* Demonstrates knowledge of speech therapy modalities, rehab equipment and medical-surgical equipment to provide safe and effective treatments.
* Coordinates and directs patient care with the rest of the healthcare team to ensure patient needs are met and hospital policy followed. Participates in Speech Therapy student clinical education.
* Develops and participate in health promotion programs, group activities, or discussions to promote patient health, facilitate social adjustment, alleviate stress, and prevent physical or mental disability.
* Follows standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
* Treats patients and their families/caregivers with dignity and respect to facilitate an established rehabilitation plan of care. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
* Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety and quality through maintenance of a safe environment, providing assistance to patients and visitors and support of safe practices.
* Performs within the prescribed limits of the health system's Ethics and Compliance program. Responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to immediate supervisor or compliance officer.
* Communicates appropriately and professionally to patients, providers, health system staff and administrative team.
* Attends meetings and completes annual trainings as required and maintains general knowledge of budget and stewardship.

* ** Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Graduate of an accredited school of Speech Therapy or graduate of accredited college or University Required
* New graduates are encouraged to apply Required
* 1-3 years health care experience Preferred
* Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.
* Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation.
* Knowledge of principles and methods for education and instruction for individuals and groups.
