Economic Stability Specialist

Overview

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana.

Play a critical role in supporting Louisiana families as an Economic Stability Specialist under the supervision of an ES Manager. This position provides accurate information and guidance on SNAP and Summer EBT programs while ensuring eligibility determinations and benefit allotments are processed correctly and in compliance with program policies. The role offers a high level of responsibility and independent decision-making, contributing directly to program integrity, fiscal accountability, and the effective delivery of essential services that impact individuals, communities, and the state as a whole.

• Performs problem solving and triage related to SEBT card and benefit issues to ensure timely and accurate resolution for clients.
• Identifies program problem areas and recommends corrective actions to prevent federal fiscal sanctions, service inequities, and inaccurate benefit determinations.
• Develops and recommends revisions to forms, procedures, and policies to reduce workload, minimize errors, and improve service delivery.
• Researches and analyzes SNAP and SEBT program policies to assess impacts on staff, clients, programs, and partners, and recommends compliant policy or procedural changes.
• Organizes and participates in special projects, reports, and work groups to improve productivity, reduce errors, and support policy or system changes driven by legislation or agency initiatives.
• Serves as a subject matter expert for SNAP and SEBT programs by communicating with school administrators, system personnel, and customers, and identifying training needs with recommendations to ES Manager 1.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Probationary appointment, Promotional appointment, Job appointment (temporary appointment that may last up to 48 months) or Detail to Special Duty.

Compensation: This position is eligible for the following Special Entrance Rates (SER), as well as a Premium Pay of up to $2.00/hr for hours worked based on longevity.

Economic Stability Specialist - $22.75 hr / $1,820 bi-weekly
