Three years of experience in offender records analysis, offender classification, offender pre-classification, security, or social services or as a probation or parole officer; OR six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR a bachelor’s degree.

Experience Substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties
  • Evaluates inmate concerns, provides information and counseling to inmates in matters such as adjusting to prison life, intra-institutional reclassification, visiting process, finances, grievance process, protection concerns, educational opportunities, release process, and parole and pardon board processes.
  • Conducts interviews with inmates upon arrival at ARDC.
  • Completes comprehensive biographical report indicating security classification and custody designation and concerns.
  • Determines inmate classification status in compliance with legislation concerning legal parole eligibility.
  • Work with the Corrections ARDC Manager & Corrections ARDC Supervisor based on area assigned whether it be in Classification area or Records area.

    : PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
  • Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment if accepted.
  • An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
  • This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probationary appointment.
