This position serves as an Assistant Unit 4 Manager over EHCC’s Security Support Areas. It provides security management and guidance to the Unit 4 Majors over Security Support.

Qualifications

Four years of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security, plus one of the following:

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR
  • One year of experience in any field; OR
  • Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.

One year of this experience must have been in a position equivalent in scope of responsibility or complexity of work performed to a Corrections Captain in State service.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
  • In accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) (Part 115:17) of Title 28 of the Code of Federal Regulations, an applicant found to have engaged in sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused, will be disqualified.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current driver’s license.

Job Duties
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Correctional Services and EHCC Institutional Directives, policies and procedures, State and Federal Laws, Life Safety Codes, and ACA Standards compliance requirements.
  • Supervises the overall operations of Unit 4 assigned areas.
  • Responds to significant institutional unusual occurrences as defined by institutional/departmental policy.
  • Reviews paperwork daily, including Warden’s Unusual Occurrence Reports, Investigations, Employee Disciplinary Reports, ARP’s, etc.
  • Performs daily inspections of all areas of the industrial compound, Control Center, and ARP Office.
