Position: ASSISTANT COUNCIL RESEARCH OFFICER (CLASS CODE 0265)
Location: New Orleans

highly responsible professional, supervisory and administrative work in coordinating the program, planning and administrative service functions within the council research bureau; and related work as required.(promotional)

  • bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.*
  • permanent status with the city of new orleans in a class of work having a pay grade equal to or higher than pay grade 77 and five (5) years of professional administrative experience which must have included the research and preparation of legislative instruments.

  • six (6) years of responsible professional administrative experience which must have included the research and preparation of legislative instruments. At least one (1) year of the experience must have been supervisory.

    note: the civil service department defines profession experience as experience gained in a position that required a bachelor's degree upon entrance.

    a qualifying written examination and a rating of training and experience, weighted 100%. All related previous experience will be considered for qualification purposes;

    however, credit on the rating of training and experience will only be given for experience gained within the last ten (10) years. Promotional employees in the management specialist series are exempt from the written examination.

    the examination is a written test designated to measure: basic management principles, decision-making and organizing, interpersonal skills, written communication, and mathematics.
