overview
this is semi-skilled work operating automotive equipment with responsibility for towing functions for the parking, towing and abandoned vehicles unit of the department of public works. Work includes storing and securing crime scene vehicles and may involve hazardous situations when removing and impounding vehicles. Work may also include light or heavy physical labor when not operating equipment; and related work as required.

a valid class d (or higher) louisiana driver's license.
applicants must have a good driving record for the last eighteen (18) months. Applicants who have outstanding traffic or parking violations, or one or more “driving while intoxicated violations” within the last eighteen (18) months will not be eligible for employment in this classification.
applicants may be hired pending the results of a traffic‑violations check, but any applicant so hired and later found to be in violation of these requirements shall be dismissed during the probationary period.

If selected for hire, applicants must provide original documents of their qualifying credentials to the hiring agency prior to their start date in this job classification.

domicilerequirements for sewerage and water board
domicile requirements are currently waived for the purpose of application. Residency requirements are waived for all sewerage and water board positions vacant and advertised for at least 90 days. Employees hired under this waiver remain exempt from the city's residency requirement for the duration of their employment at the sewerage and water board. (la r.s. 33:4076). Additional exceptions to the domicile requirement may be made on a case‑by‑case basis.
