Description

We are looking for a dedicated Bookkeeper for our client in New Orleans, Louisiana. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a prestigious educational institution. As part of their finance team, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the school's mission of academic excellence.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain detailed financial records for student activities and organizational accounts to ensure compliance with relevant laws and policies.

- Process daily cash transactions for general funds, foundation accounts, and other financial activities.

- Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings, including preparing journal entries and maintaining account accuracy.

- Monitor and report unusual financial activities to the Chief Financial Officer to uphold financial integrity.

- Record vendor payments accurately while ensuring expenses align with designated budget items.

- Ensure timely processing of invoices and alert management when budgets are nearing or exceeding limits.

- Generate and review purchase orders while scanning and maintaining financial documentation.

- Conduct regular reviews of accounts payable for accuracy and completeness.

- Protect sensitive financial information by adhering to confidentiality standards

Requirements

- Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.

- Minimum of two years of experience in bookkeeping or financial management.

- Proficiency in an accounting software.

- Strong knowledge of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes.

- Experience with bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.

- Previous experience in the education or non-profit sector is advantageous but not mandatory.

- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

- Ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative team spirit.
