Title: Information Technology - Vendor Relationship Management Intern
Location: Raceland, LA
Position Overview: The IT department is seeking a Finance Intern to assist with developing a financial framework for tracking, analyzing, and optimizing IT spend. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to vendor management, contract analysis, and technology budgeting while working closely with the IT Vendor Relationship Manager and Contracts & Licensing Specialist.
Role Focus: The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and financial modeling skills, an interest in technology procurement, and a desire to bridge finance and IT operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in building a comprehensive IT spend framework that aligns with departmental and organizational financial goals.
• Collect, analyze, and categorize IT expenses across software, hardware, cloud services, and professional services.
• Partner with the Contracts & Licensing Specialist to review agreements for cost, renewal terms, and spend commitments.
• Help develop reporting templates and dashboards for spend visibility, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Support vendor performance analysis and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance transparency and accountability in IT procurement.
• Prepare documentation and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations.
Skills Developed:
• Understand the fundamentals of IT financial management and vendor governance.
• Gain hands-on experience with budget analysis and spend optimization.
• Learn how to connect financial data to operational IT decisions.
• Build real-world skills in contract review, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
Skills & Abilities:
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, charts).
• Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools is a plus.
• Interest in IT, software licensing, or vendor management.
• Good organization and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a professional environment.
• Basic typing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
