Role OverviewCarr’s Hill is seeking a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to support financial reporting, planning, and analytical functions across the firm’s portfolio companies. This individual will serve as a key financial resource to portfolio company CFOs, helping to enhance financial visibility, improve reporting quality, and support data-driven decision-making. The role is well-suited for a finance professional with strong analytical capabilities, experience working with operating companies, and the ability to partner effectively with management teams in a private equity environment.
Key Responsibilities- Partner closely with portfolio company CFOs and finance teams to improve the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
- Assist in the development and refinement of management reporting packages, KPIs, and dashboards tailored to each business.
- Review financial statements and operating results, identify trends and variances, and help management teams understand key drivers of performance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes at the portfolio company level.
- Help implement best-in-class FP&A processes, including standardized reporting templates, forecasting methodologies, and performance metrics.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses related to pricing, margins, cost structure, working capital, capital expenditures, and growth initiatives.
- Support value creation initiatives by providing analytical insight into operational improvements, organic growth, and acquisition opportunities.
- Assist with integration planning and financial reporting for add-on acquisitions.
- Serve as a financial liaison between Carr’s Hill and portfolio company management teams.
- Support internal investment and portfolio review processes by preparing and reviewing financial analyses and presentation materials.
- Assist with financial due diligence and modeling in connection with new platform investments and add-on acquisitions.
- Coordinate with external advisors, including accounting firms and consultants, as needed.
- Evaluate existing financial systems, processes, and controls at portfolio companies and recommend improvements.
- Support CFOs in strengthening internal controls, forecasting discipline, and financial planning capabilities as businesses scale.
- Help establish consistent financial reporting standards across the portfolio while respecting business-specific needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA or CPA preferred but not required.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in FP&A, corporate finance, consulting, or transaction services.
- Experience working with middle-market or lower middle-market operating companies; private equity–backed experience strongly preferred.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills.
- Solid understanding of financial statements, operational drivers, and performance metrics.
- Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities across several portfolio companies.
