This is a newly created role for an experienced project or cost accounting professional who wants real ownership
, visibility into operations, and a seat at the table as a business grows.
If you’ve ever been frustrated by owning the numbers but not the decisions, this role is designed to change that.
The Opportunity
You’ll be responsible for the financial performance of projects from quote through completion — building structure where none exists today and becoming the go-to owner of project financials across the business.
This is a hands-on, on-site role working closely with operations, project managers, and executive leadership. You’ll help leadership clearly understand where projects make or lose money — and why
.
The company is in strong growth mode (~30% YoY) and expects this role to evolve as the team scales.
What You’ll Own- Project financials end-to-end
: quotes, budgets, execution, closeout - Build and convert quotes and change orders into approved project budgets
- Track actuals vs. budget throughout the project lifecycle
- Own project-level P&L, margins, forecasts, and variance analysis
- Identify and explain cost overruns
, risks, and improvement opportunities - Partner daily with operations, PMs, supply chain, and executives
- Prepare project dashboards, customer financials, and leadership reporting
- Execute hands‑on ERP transactions related to project costing
- Help build and improve project accounting processes, controls, and tools
- 5–7+ years in project accounting, cost accounting, or project-based finance
- Direct experience with job costing, project budgets, and P&L ownership
- Strong ERP experience (hands‑on, transactional — not reporting only)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivots, lookups, variance analysis, modeling)
- Comfortable working cross‑functionally and interacting with executives
- Someone who can take ownership — not a role for someone early‑career
Industry is flexible.
Construction, industrial services, manufacturing, or oil & gas experience is a plus — but strong project accounting fundamentals matter more than industry labels.
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Accounting, Finance, Business, or related), but the focus is on capability and experience
, not pedigree.
- Newly created role —
you help define the function - Direct exposure to operations, FP&A, and executive leadership
- Visibility with the private equity ownership group
- Strong mentorship from a highly capable finance leader
- Growing company with plans to build out the team
- Work that actually influences decisions — not just reporting after the fact
- On‑site, 5 days/week in Gray, LA
- Interviews moving quickly — leadership is ready to hire
- Mid‑Senior level
- Full-time
- Accounting/Auditing and Project Management
- Industries:
Robot Manufacturing and Industrial Machinery Manufacturing
- Medical insurance
- Vision insurance
- 401(k)
