OverviewHandling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries.
You will be supported by engaging colleagues, dedicated mentors, and training programs designed to help you progress.
- Research client business operations and build long‑lasting relationships
- Identify applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
- Detect over payment opportunities or risks and communicate them to clients
- Monitor current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
- Develop clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries
- Prepare and defend sales and use tax refund claims
- Participate in and manage a motivated team of professionals, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge, and opportunities to reach their full potential
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- Willingness to travel as needed and work flexibly in a hybrid environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts, and tools
- Experience managing budgets, people, and projects
- Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
- Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment
- Achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or membership of a state bar
- Competitive base salary ranging from $105,100 to $192,600 nationwide (with higher ranges for specific metro areas)
