Summary

Under general direction from the Cage Manager, the Shift Lead safeguards the assets of the casino by overseeing the cashiers and cage functions to ensure that monetary transactions are executed for guests in an accurate, professional and courteous manner. Ensures all cage functions operate in accordance with established policies, procedures and gaming regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists in implementing policies and procedures in accordance with gaming regulations.
  • Improves staff effectiveness by counseling, training, planning, delegating, monitoring, and appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner.
  • Keeps leadership and other departments informed of cage status, verbally or through email.
  • Ensures cashiering functions are executed according to gaming regulations and established policies and procedures.
  • Verifies payouts as needed.
  • Responds to guest service interactions in a professional and timely manner, achieving positive resolutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems in all Cage areas.
  • Performs functions of cage cashiers as required.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and signatures on all required transactions.
  • Performs drop and count procedures in accordance with gaming and company regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Implements training programs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending training classes.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Attends and participates in scheduled staff meetings.
  • Reconciles Kiosk Machines (Cash Ticket Machines) as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED plus three years cashiering experience preferably in a casino or banking environment, plus one year in a supervisory capacity. Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. No felony, theft or stealing convictions. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.

Tribal preference.

Education and/or Experience
  • Knowledge of basic accounting, math, and record keeping practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and basic math.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements including Tribal Sovereignty, Title 31, and other IRS regulations.
  • Knowledge of fraud prevention techniques and credit scams.
  • Knowledge of casino software programs and equipment related to cage operations.
  • Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
  • Skill in supervising, training, and evaluating assigned staff.
  • Ability to interpret applicable federal, state, county and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Ability to complete and pass Title 31 training and assessment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to operate a 10 key, money counter and jetsort.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict time lines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.
