The individual in this position is responsible for managing the day-to-day safety and health programs within the Louisiana Integrated Polyethylene JV (LKO JV) site, including compliance with regulations and safety standards. The successful candidate will interface with diverse groups including process and project engineering, operations, maintenance, plant management, and regulatory agencies.
As a member of the Health & Safety team, you will provide technical support by identifying and resolving safety issues and suggesting improvements to enhance the safety and health of employees, contractors, and visitors.
A Day in the Life:Basic responsibilities include:
- Delivering GoalZERO HSE performance through leadership and employee involvement
- Supervising H&S personnel, setting goals, mentoring, and managing performance
- Supporting operational excellence plans and audits
- Participating in safety and fire protection reviews for facility expansions and modifications
- Providing regulatory interpretation and technical advice
- Developing and supporting safety policies, procedures, and programs
- Understanding plant processes to identify safety improvements
- Managing multiple tasks and delegating appropriately
- Interacting with plant personnel to ensure regulatory and operational understanding
- Recommending and implementing safety solutions
- Establishing expectations, monitoring performance, and ensuring accountability
- Serving as a safety resource during operations and investigations
- Hosting agency inspections and maintaining compliance documentation
- Supporting incident investigations and emergency responses
- Leading digitization initiatives in safety practices
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
- At least 8 years of HSE experience in refining or chemical manufacturing
- Deep knowledge of OSHA regulations, behavioral safety, incident investigation, and loss prevention
- Experience representing companies to community agencies
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to safety improvements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) preferred
- Experience in emergency response management
- Knowledge of industrial facility security and major turnaround planning
- Understanding of Human & Organization Performance (HOP)
