Per Diem: $110/day (7 days/week)

We are seeking a highly experienced Controls & Automation Engineer to support a large-scale industrial facility project currently in the construction and commissioning phase. This is a hands‑on, onsite role supporting instrumentation, controls, programming, and startup activities in a brownfield environment.
This position requires a true subject matter expert in the Rockwell platform — not someone who has casually worked with it, but someone deeply experienced in architecture, programming, integration, and troubleshooting. The engineer will work closely with contractors and cross‑functional teams to ensure successful pre‑commissioning and commissioning execution.

Key Responsibilities- Lead and support instrumentation and controls design development and field execution
- Oversee PLC programming, integration, and validation activities
- Ensure systems are designed and installed to support smooth startup and long‑term reliability
- Coordinate construction, installation, testing, and commissioning activities
- Review equipment specifications, data sheets, and construction packages
- Define and verify system acceptance criteria including FAT and commissioning protocols
- Monitor electrical and controls schedules to support overall project timelines
- Support risk management, HSE compliance, and quality control initiatives
- Provide technical leadership across engineering, procurement, and construction teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of experience in instrumentation & controls within industrial environments
- 5+ years working across multiple project disciplines
- Experience supporting projects exceeding $50MM total installed cost
- Prior experience working on the owner’s side of operating facilities preferred
- Advanced proficiency with Rockwell Studio 5000 (v30+)
- Strong experience with Rockwell PLC hardware and integration

- Industrial OT network design and IT/OT integration
- PLC/DCS system design and commissioning
- Logic diagram development and panel/hardware design
- Pre‑commissioning, commissioning, and startup execution
- FAT participation and quality control documentation
- Experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environments (e.g., processing, power, chemical, agriculture, or similar sectors)
- Knowledge of hazardous location classifications
- Familiarity with NFPA standards related to combustible dust
- Experience with HAZOP, LOPA, Cause & Effect methodology
- Risk assessment methodologies such as Bowtie
- Deeply knowledgeable in Rockwell automation systems
- Comfortable leading field‑level commissioning efforts
- Experienced in brownfield industrial projects
- Strong in contractor coordination and cross‑functional communication
- Capable of identifying and mitigating technical risk
- 40–50 hours per week
