Position Description

The Engineering Technician analyzes engine and equipment performance to improve compressor station efficiency and reliability, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations. The role supports natural gas compressor stations, including industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, internal combustion engines, reciprocating compressors, and ancillary equipment. The technician collaborates with field technicians and operations specialists for troubleshooting and maintenance, and may work with Environmental Representatives on engine and compressor performance and compliance assessments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Operate and interpret data from various test equipment, including performance testers, vibration analysis tools, ultrasonic leak detectors, borescopes, emissions testing devices, and thermography.
  • Conduct routine engine and compressor performance and maintenance analysis using tools like Resonance Systems Lenz, Windrock, and relevant software.
  • Perform portable emissions testing as needed.
  • Identify, report, and assist in correcting environmental issues through greenhouse gas surveys and leak detection.
  • Perform vibration testing and data analysis, supporting vibration mitigation programs.
  • Test engines and compressors to establish or optimize performance and control system parameters.
  • Provide corrective actions to operational problems and collaborate with plant personnel on equipment issues.
  • Monitor mechanical system reliability and participate in reliability meetings.
  • Assist in failure analysis and develop standard maintenance practices.
  • Document findings and communicate equipment health to management.
  • Provide technical support and training on equipment operation and maintenance policies.
  • Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support start-up and commissioning of new equipment as needed.
  • Communicate professionally with diverse stakeholders, demonstrating tact and courtesy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
