Senior Civil Engineer

We are seeking a full-time Senior Civil Engineer in New Orleans, Louisiana. This role provides A/E services for the Department of Energy associated with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). The position is primarily in Harahan, LA with site visits to the SPR’s four cavern locations in Texas and Louisiana several times a year.

• Serve as the lead civil engineer‑of‑record responsible for oil and gas design packages, including developing civil/structural engineering specifications and drawings.
• Prepare technical designs with others of a multidiscipline team in compliance with established design criteria, industry codes, environmental guidelines, client specifications, and quality assurance program.
• Understand, develop, and review project drawings, calculations, specifications, and other engineering deliverables driven by the project or client.
• Engineer, design, and certify foundations for large equipment with associated access platforms, pipe supports, roads, etc.; this is the primary function of the position.
• Conduct field verification, condition assessment, and inspections as needed to further the design.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates.
• Review contractor submittals and RFIs; perform technical evaluations of vendor proposals.
• Review plans, specifications and other documents to identify discrepancies, code violations, improper materials or techniques, and substandard or poor‑quality workmanship.
• Attend weekly meetings to update the client on project status, schedule, discuss problems, and resolve issues.

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Professional Engineer registration/licensure
• Pass a background check required for PIV badging
• 10–15+ years of extensive experience with Civil Engineering design of foundations for large equipment, access platforms, pipe supports, and roadways
• Must have 10+ years experience as Lead Civil Engineer‑of‑Record for oil & gas projects
• Must have experience in preparation and review of engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Familiarity with SPR / DOE project environments
• Must be proficient with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and Bluebeam Software.

Location:
