DescriptionThe Railroad Business Unit of Modjeski and Masters is seeking Bridge Design Engineers with interest and/pr experience in Railroad Bridge Design

Positions are available in Mechanicsburg, PA, Washington, DC, Kansas City, MO and New Orleans, LA.
What We're Looking For- At minimum a BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited College or University
- Professional Engineering License (PE) or within 6 months of obtaining
- Railroad Bridge Design Experience required
- Familiarity with CADD software, Microsoft Office Software, and structural analysis software
- Ability to develop effective leadership and communication skills necessary to lead teams of engineers and technicians
- Problem‑solving skills necessary to resolve both design and detailing issues
- Take on leadership roles and be responsible for the delivery of projects, and assist Project Managers in identifying issues and developing solutions
- Perform structural design and detailing of railroad bridge components as one of the primary project engineers with limited guidance from Project Managers and Senior Structural Engineers
- Perform tasks on multiple, concurrent projects
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities, including field and construction service assignments as needed
- Perform railroad bridge analysis, design and detailing based on the AREMA Manual.
- Identify appropriate steps in the bridge design and detailing process, and the initiative to complete the necessary tasks
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co‑workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members
- Effectively receive and convey ideas and information orally and in writing with co‑workers, project managers, supervisor, and other team members

The Railroad Business Unit focuses on structural design, evaluation and rehabilitation of new and existing railroad bridges of all types, including fixed, movable, girder, truss and arch structures. This unit focuses on the unique challenges of railroad structures, including historic bridges and providing emergency services. Staff within this unit are primarily made up of Structural Engineers.
