Position Description
The Engineering Technician analyzes engine and equipment performance to enhance compressor station efficiency and reliability, ensuring compliance with safety policies and regulations. The role supports natural gas compressor stations with industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, internal combustion engines, reciprocating compressors, and ancillary equipment. The technician collaborates with field technicians and operations specialists to troubleshoot equipment and assist in maintenance. They may also work with Environmental Representatives to assess engine and compressor performance and compliance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Use and interpret various test equipment, including performance analyzers, vibration analysis tools, ultrasonic leak detectors, borescopes, emissions testing devices, greenhouse gas survey tools, and thermography equipment.
- Perform routine engine and compressor performance and maintenance analysis using software such as Resonance Systems Lenz and Windrock.
- Conduct portable emissions testing as needed.
- Identify, report, and assist in correcting environmental issues through GHG surveys and leak detection.
- Perform vibration testing and data analysis; support vibration mitigation programs.
- Test engines and compressors to establish or improve performance and control system coefficients.
- Provide corrective actions for operational issues and collaborate with plant personnel to resolve equipment problems.
- Monitor the reliability of mechanical systems and participate in reliability meetings.
- Assist in failure analysis and develop standard practices and procedures.
- Document findings and communicate equipment health to management.
- Provide technical support and training on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Ensure all work complies with company standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Assist with startup and commissioning of new equipment as needed.
- Interact professionally and tactfully with all personnel, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
