Pressure Systems Engineer

The Pressure Systems Engineer will support the space program supporting NASA at Michoud Assembly Facility (MAF) located in New Orleans, LA.

The Pressure systems engineer will provide support to the Pressure Vessel / Systems (PVS) Manager oriented toward existing pressure vessels and in-service piping systems. The role includes performing engineering analyses as required and compiling documentation to compose reports for certification of PVS at MAF.

• Certification efforts involving walk‑down inspections, data gathering, engineering analysis, documentation preparation, and data entry into applicable collection and storage locations.
• Coordinate inspection activities with NDE Inspectors as well as systems/vessel user/owners to obtain data and evaluate conditions of components, piping, tubing, and vessels.
• Certification performed in accordance with national consensus standards such as ASME Section VIII, B31.3, NBIC and NASA standard NASA‑STD‑8719.17.
• Perform engineering analysis using RAGAGEP (i.e., fatigue, cumulative damage, and remaining life assessments).
• Other duties as assigned.

• This position requires U.S. citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer‑related information.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
• Must have 1+ years of recent and related work experience.
• In lieu of a degree: Candidates with 5+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
• General knowledge of pressure system components (valves, regulators, gauges, relief valves), their functions, and the ability to identify them in person.
• Ability to prepare detailed documentation for delivery to the NASA customer using a format that satisfies the applicable national consensus standards and NASA standards.

• Experience using ASME and/or API methods to determine whether pressure vessels or piping can remain in service with defects identified during non‑destructive examination (fitness‑for‑service analysis) and performing pressure‑vessel fatigue analysis to determine remaining fatigue life.
• Experience working with non‑destructive techniques such as UT, ET, PT, MT, RT, understanding both requirements and results.
• Familiarity with pressure‑vessel or component manufacturing processes.
• Experience performing analysis with NASGRO Fracture Mechanics and Fatigue software.
• Basic understanding of NASA and aerospace pressure‑vessel requirements.

• The position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
• Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
