Senior Telecommunications Engineer
Position at Jacobs across the United States.
Base pay range$/yr - $/yr
OverviewWork on data center telecommunications systems including structured cabling, wireless, audio‑visual, and other low‑voltage systems. Provide technical design leadership, mentor team members, and coordinate with stakeholders.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in the preparation of engineering drawings
- Develop or modify DIV 27 specifications
- Conduct site visits
- Review technical documents
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
- Mentor other team members
- Collaborate with the lead engineer or department manager to improve departmental processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
- Minimum 8 years of experience designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems
- In‑depth knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70 standards
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients
- Excellent project‑management skills
- Familiarity with responding to RFPs
- Experience with quality assurance and checking telecommunications systems designed by others
- Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
- Experience creating and maintaining project budgets and schedules
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk
- Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain multiple PE licenses required
- 4 years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems: security, audio‑visual, wireless
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems
- Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification‑writing procedures
- Credential as an RCDD
