REPORTS TO: Principal
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Substitute (7 hours per day)
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES- Perform job duties under direct supervision; implement tutorial activities, hygiene procedures, medical record keeping, charting, and class work preparation.
- Perform physical demands requiring frequent lifting, carrying, transferring, or pushing objects or wheelchairs weighing at least 50 lbs; walking, standing, kneeling, stooping, balancing, crouching, reaching, grasping, and other motor skills are required.
- Perform duties that support the educational process, including medical and hygiene procedures such as tube feeding, suctioning, catheterization, medication administration, glucose checks, ostomy care, diapering, and other non‑complex medical procedures as directed by nurse and IEP committee.
- Assist students with activities, groups, or inclusive settings; accompany students to recess and lunch when required by IEP.
- Assist and support the instructional process; score objective tests, gather and record data.
- Keep a log of daily activities performed with itinerant, within, and between schools as required by program coordinator.
- Support and implement the discipline philosophy and procedures of the school.
- Adhere to policies and procedures for schedules, break time, lunch time, and duties.
- Attend IEP and staff meetings as requested.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or immediate supervisor.
* PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Adhere to district guidelines on attendance; clock in/out on district timeclock.
- Notify supervisors early of time‑off requests (paid or unpaid).
- Attend work on time and adhere to workplace schedule.
- Work additional hours assigned (e.g., faculty meetings, professional development). Participate constructively in meetings.
- Complete tasks safely per Safety Department or profession/ craft guidelines.
- Report unsafe conditions or incidents immediately to appropriate official.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
- Dress appropriately and display employee at all times on duty.
- Comply with policies on tobacco use, drug‑free workplace, and cell phone usage.
- Assist in safe schools procedures and protocols, including sanitizing high‑frequency contact points.
- Maintain confidentiality of all School Board business.
- Submit all required records and reports accurately and on time.
- Observe professional ethics as prescribed by state law and board policy.
- Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, parents, and the public.
- Adhere to high standards of professionalism; pursue professional growth.
- Maintain communication with immediate supervisor; report problems and collaborate on solutions.
- Adhere to Board policies, guidelines, and regulations; uphold ethical standards.
- Cooperate with building and district staff in planning and evaluation.
- Apply laws, policies, and regulations fairly and compassionately.
- Understand and interpret written and verbal instructions; give clear instructions when required.
- Participate in virtual lessons and meetings professionally.
- Follow chain of command for administrative procedures.
- Follow directives as assigned by supervisor.
