JOB DUTIES AND OTHER INFORMATION:
Job Duties- Assists with enhancing student (offender) learning and achievement, providing consultation and professional development activities to faculty to enhance educational effectiveness.

Salary will be determined by the Avoyelles Parish School Board pay plan for a 2080 hour work year, which will be based upon experience, certification, and education level.
Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections (DPS&C)/ Raymond Laborde Correctional Center (RLCC), located in Cottonport, LA, is currently seeking a full-time Teacher for the Education Department.
The incumbent of this position will be responsible for providing instructional guidance and curriculum development for all offenders enrolled in RLCC's HI-SET program, monitoring all students' attendance and compiling data.
The incumbent will also administer academic tests on a scheduled basis, determine if and when the student has successfully passed all pre-requisites for taking the final HI-SET exam, and then schedule the student for the next available HI-SET testing class.
This position is also responsible for monitoring all students' work on a daily basis and recommending placement from one level to another.

Exams and License RequirementsNo Civil Service test score is required in order to be considered for this vacancy.
A current, valid Louisiana Teacher's Certificate in an academic content area with an Adult Education endorsement or take six semester hours per academic year approved by the Education Director to renew an expired or to acquire a Louisiana teaching certificate with an Adult Education endorsement.
