Pottawattamie County Conservation is seeking passionate and skilled Ski and Snowboard instructors to join our team for the upcoming winter season. This position will run from December through March or the duration of the ski season.
Individuals in this role will teach new skiers/snowboarders and intermediate skiers/snowboarders the fundamentals of skiing/snowboarding. Instructors will work with the Snow sports School Coordinator to ensure the Ski School meets guest expectations while prioritizing guest safety. Essential Functions- Instruct groups and/or individuals in a lesson format.
- Teach proper technique appropriate to the ability level of students.
- Promote safety and provide students with knowledge to stay safe when skiing/snowboarding independently.
- Participate in clinics and free-skiing/snowboarding to improve personal skills.
- Attend PSIA or AASI clinics and exams regularly.
- Greet guests and direct them to the correct lesson location.
- Provide courteous, friendly, and professional customer service, treating each lesson recipient as an important individual.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ability to ski or snowboard safely and confidently in all conditions and terrains.
- Ability to work during peak times and in adverse weather.
- Must be 18 years old at hire.
- Complete ski/snowboard instructor training upon hire.
- Prior instructor experience is preferred.
- PSIA or AASI certification is preferred.
- Reliable, punctual, with own transportation.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
