Job Title: Nurse Aide Instructor (PRN)

Job Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly), Part-Time, Not Benefit Eligible

Location: Multiple (Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, Grinnell)

Rate of Pay: $35.00/hour

Schedule: PRN (As Needed), Typically 2-3 days per week, 2-4 hours per day, while teaching

This PRN (as needed) position offers a flexible opportunity for experienced nurses to teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and short‑term healthcare courses. With a low weekly time commitment and the ability to choose when to work, instructors can accept classes that fit their schedules. It is an excellent option for nurses who wish to share their expertise without the obligations of a full‑time role.

• Teach CNA and related courses in accordance with approved course outlines and DIA requirements.
• Provide CNA clinical instruction in local long‑term care facilities.
• Deliver content using a variety of instructional methods and technologies (in‑person, online, hybrid).
• Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials.
• Maintain accurate student and course records to meet state and federal standards.
• Coordinate with the Health Education Coordinator to schedule classes based on instructor availability and program needs.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
• Provide mentorship for new instructors when needed.
• Maintain a clean and professional instructional environment.

Additional Duties:
Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.

• Strong clinical and instructional skills with a commitment to student success; flexible and self‑motivated to manage a PRN schedule; excellent verbal and written communication.
• Well‑organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities; open to using new technologies and teaching strategies.

This position is ideal for RNs looking to share their expertise in a part‑time, flexible teaching role that works around personal and professional lives.

Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with active RN licensure in Iowa or a compatible compact state (or able to obtain). Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse. At least 1 year of full‑time employment in long‑term care strongly preferred but not required. Teaching or training experience preferred.

Registered Nurse in Iowa or a compact state, or the ability to obtain one. CPR and Dependent adult abuse certification.
