PreK-8 Art Teacher

Overview

Our Art Teachers impact students’ lives by delivering art instruction in the classroom, supporting student achievement and enrichment, planning long-term units and daily lessons, implementing feedback into instruction, adapting activities for scholars of all ages and abilities, and collaborating with families and school staff to advance the mission of Crescent City Schools.

• Deliver art instruction in the classroom, supporting student achievement and enrichment
• Lead long-term unit planning and daily lesson planning
• Quickly implement feedback and goal-setting into lesson delivery
• Adapt activities for scholars of all ages and abilities
• Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress
• Collaborate with teaching staff
• Participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events
• Maintain a classroom culture conducive to student achievement
• Embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school
• Take on other tasks, as needed

• Our innovative compensation system with role placement on Lead Scale or Associate Scale (depending on experience and qualifications). It may include bumps for leadership responsibilities, summer work, work outside regular duties, or longevity with Crescent City Schools.

• Have a BA or BS Degree
• Preferred:
  Louisiana Teacher Certification (or equivalent certification in another state)

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
• This is an in-person role

Crescent City Schools is a nonprofit Charter Management Organization whose mission is to support and develop open-enrollment charter schools that raise student achievement and prepare students for college. Crescent City Schools currently operates three PreK-8th grade open-enrollment charter schools:
Harriet Tubman and Dorothy Height Charter Schools on the West Bank and Mildred Osborne Charter School in the Kenilworth neighborhood. Our organization creates life-changing educational experiences for students and, through this work, transforms a city.
