Responsibilities

As a KIPP New Orleans Teacher, your core responsibilities include:

Achievement | Teaching and Learning

  • Adapt and execute a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum
  • Develop and/or modify academically rigorous lessons, unit plans, rubrics and assessments
  • Use data to inform instructional decisions and reflect on impact
  • Provide students with daily feedback and plan for individual learning needs

Hope | Build a Positive Classroom Culture

  • Create a positive learning environment with clear rules, systems and procedures
  • Belief that all students can learn and belong in the classroom
  • Consistently implement school-wide management policies
  • Hold high expectations for student behavior

Community | Build a Positive School Culture

  • Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, staff and community
  • Communicate progress to families
  • Participate in events such as staff meetings, open houses and conferences

Qualifications

The following are required of all KIPP New Orleans teachers:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Personal affinity to our mission and vision and commitment to our 5 core beliefs — Relentlessness, Equity, Achievement, Community, and Hope
  • Offers are contingent upon reference check, identity/work authorization, background check, and verification of teaching experience/certification (if applicable)

The following are strongly preferred for all KIPP New Orleans teachers:

  • At least two years of teaching in urban, open enrollment schools
  • State teaching credential
Additional Information

The physical demands and environment are representative of the role; reasonable accommodations may be made.

  • Sit/stand at a desk for extended periods
  • Move around the classroom and lift up to 30 lbs as needed
  • Concentrate in busy environments and in classrooms
  • Repetitive wrist/hand/finger movements for computer and equipment use
