Adjunct Instructor, Medical Billing and Coding

This position will instruct in‑person courses in the Medical Billing and Coding program and perform associated duties. The instructor will prepare and present course content, administer exams, hold office hours, maintain class records and report grades, participate in evaluations, and complete required employee training.
RequirementsMinimum Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with familiarity with the subject matter (evidence via transcript or occupational experience).
- If no Bachelor’s degree: a high school diploma or equivalent, plus a license, diploma, certificate or other degree in the area taught, and a minimum of four (4) years of documented occupational experience in the area taught.

Minimum Qualifications
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Biller (CPB), or Certified Billing and Coding Specialist (CBCS)
- Proficiency in computer use and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications
- At least one year of teaching experience in a higher education setting
- Perform duties associated with instruction and assess student progress.
- Attend class on schedule, begin lessons promptly, and maintain academic rigor.
- Pursue goals that support the mission of the college and represent the college positively.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and processes.
- Make arrangements for necessary absences per college policy.
- Prepare lectures, lead discussions, conduct demonstrations, and use technology to facilitate learning.
- Create an engaging classroom environment treating all students equitably.
- Participate in departmental duties such as committee meetings, curriculum development, testing material revision, accreditation processes, and other assigned tasks.
- Participate in assessment activities for program evaluation of student learning outcomes.
- Assist in the assessment of non‑traditional credit examinations.
- Maintain accurate attendance and progress records; prepare academic progress reports when required; submit midterm and final grades on time; complete Instructor Exit forms.
- Check emails daily and respond within 24 hours (Mon‑Fri) to student inquiries and communications.
- Hold thirty (30) minutes of office hours per course on campus.
- Utilize learning and technological resources to enhance student communication skills.
- Participate in mandated training and professional development.
- Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, supervisors, and the community.
Required to sit or stand for long periods, walk, use hands to handle objects, reach, climb stairs, maintain balance and stoop or kneel. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
