Position SummaryThe Neurosurgery Department within the School of Medicine of the LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans is seeking applicants for a Neurotrauma Neurosurgeon. Appointment will be at the academic rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track) with rank determined by the candidate’s credentials and experience. The anticipated primary site of clinical practice will be at University Medical Center in New Orleans, an academic medical center of LCMC Health with 446 licensed inpatient beds, 12 bed Neurocritical Care unit, outpatient services as well as the region’s only level 1 Trauma Center.
Responsibilities include leading the trauma service, providing clinical services and supervision of Neurosurgery residents, as well as shared trauma and neurosurgery call. Other functions of this position will include participation in medical student education, resident selection, and evaluation, as well as involvement in clinically relevant research and scholarship. Practice to be limited to Neurotrauma sharing call/coverage with other similar physicians.
Required
Education:
MD or equivalent. Completion of a Neurosurgery Residency. Subspecialty training in Neurotrauma and Neurocritical Care. Certifications/Licenses
Required:
Board Certified/Board Eligible (or equivalent) in Neurosurgery. Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before hire.
Experience:
Proved experience in Level 1 Trauma.
