Overview
Ochsner Health is seeking a BC Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist to serve as Section Head of the Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Service Line in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Responsibilities- Join and lead a multidisciplinary team and demonstrate expertise in all aspects of Advanced Heart Failure, including inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services.
- Contribute to and participate in existing clinics, including an amyloidosis clinic and a hypertrophic cardiomyopathy clinic.
- Collaborate with the Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic, which is run by the Advanced Heart Failure Team, and participate in its program as appropriate.
- Engage in the cardiogenic shock initiative, a multidisciplinary program that is growing across the state and Gulf South region.
- Work in an academic environment with a strong cardiology fellowship as an integral part of the inpatient team dynamic.
The Department of Cardiology at OMC includes 45 cardiologists at the academic medical center in New Orleans, with a larger group of 80 cardiologists practicing across nine locations in southeast Louisiana and southwest Mississippi as part of the John Ochsner Heart & Vascular Institute. The Ochsner Multi-Organ Transplant Institute leads heart, lung, liver, kidney, pancreas, and dual organ transplantation in the region.
Qualifications- Board-certified/eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (BC Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiologist).
- Strong cardiology fellowship and experience in an inpatient team setting within an academic environment.
- Experience leading or collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and transplant programs is desirable.
- Experience with LVAD implantation and heart transplantation is preferred, with the understanding that the current team performs multiple procedures annually.
