Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS),

Summary:
Position functions to serve as OISS’s first point of contact and primary information resource representative for email, phone, and walk-in inquiries. This position checks messages on the office voicemail and triages student and scholar inquiries before elevating them to advisors. Provides information, applications, letters, etc. to international students and scholars upon request. Tracks OISS budget and expenditures and makes office supply and other necessary purchases.
Offers basic immigration advice to students and helps to process immigration documents, such as initial I-20s, travel signatures, or reprints. Supports international population in meeting tax and insurance responsibilities. Supervises student workers and manages student worker schedules. Manages building-, facility-, and safety-related requests. Assists in the formulation, establishment, and execution of administrative policies and procedures.

- Provide information, applications, letters, and related materials to international students and scholars.
- Track OISS budget and expenditures; purchase office supplies and other needed items.
- Offer basic immigration guidance and assist with processing immigration documents (e.g., initial I-20s, travel signatures, reprints).
- Support international students and scholars in meeting tax and insurance responsibilities.
- Supervise and schedule student workers.
- Manage building, facility, and safety-related requests.
- Assist in formulating, establishing, and executing administrative policies and procedures.
- Excellent telephone and public skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work without close supervision.
- Eligibility to be a Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) per federal immigration regulations and to sign immigration documents on behalf of Tulane. (Must be a citizen or Legal Permanent Resident).
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, database management).
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years office experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (preferred).
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
- Experience working in international education at the college or university level.
- Office management or administrative level assistant experience.
- Familiarity with F-1, J-1, H-1B immigration regulations, and SEVIS.
- Familiarity with Sunapsis or other student record systems.
- Bilingual in at least one language other than English.
