Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New Orleans, Louisiana. This short-term contract to permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a fast-growing organization by managing key accounting functions and ensuring compliance with financial policies. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, assisting with internal reporting, audits, and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations, including cash, payroll, and prepaid expenses.

- Generate monthly balance sheets and income statement analyses to support management reporting.

- Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, including preparing financial close workbooks.

- Maintain the fixed asset ledger, process depreciation schedules, and reconcile accounts.

- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions and billings.

- Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting policies and standards.

- Collaborate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.

- Analyze financial data and present insights in a clear and actionable format.

- Participate in special projects and ad-hoc reporting tasks as needed.

- Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics, or equivalent experience preferred.

- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office tools.

- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Net Suite or Blackline is a plus.

- Strong analytical abilities with exceptional attention to detail.

- Effective organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet critical deadlines.

- Experience in publicly traded companies or dynamic business environments is advantageous.
