Job SummaryThe Staff Accountant will assist in the preparation of financial reports to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit & loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Prepares journal series for input to the General Ledger and to accounting sub-systems.
- Assists with preparing financial statements and management reports to support informed decision-making.
- Supports compliance and reporting cycles by assisting with daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Ensures accurate financial reporting by analyzing and evaluating accounting and operational data, reconciling accounts, and making necessary adjustments in a timely manner.
- Assists with strengthening internal controls through the development and monitoring of accounting procedures and systems.
- Leverages technology to develop, implement, and maintain both manual and automated financial reporting systems.
- Proactively identifies and resolves discrepancies, escalating issues when necessary and conducting independent research to ensure accuracy.
- Provides internal and external auditors with assistance by gathering requested documents.
- Manages tax compliance tasks, including preparing and filing required forms with federal, state, and local agencies.
- Collaborates effectively with regulators and stakeholders to ensure adherence to applicable standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned to support the Finance team’s objectives.
Skills and Abilities
• Self-starter with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of working independently while managing multiple priorities.
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial and cost accounting principles, including US GAAP, and ability to interpret and apply accounting theory to real-world business scenarios.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience with accounting software; familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and execute complex instructions, adapt to evolving priorities, and conduct thorough research and data analysis.
Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in accounting. At least one year of experience in Accounting or Finance.
Physical Requirements & Working ConditionsWork involves walking, talking, hearing, using hands to handle paperwork and software, and equipment operating in an office/casino environment. The environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level.
