The senior accountant position is an exempt position. Normal working hours for the team are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours may vary during peak seasons.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities /p>

  • Prepares monthly financial statements.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries.
  • Reconciles balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintains fixed assets and depreciation/amortization schedules in FAS.
  • Reconciles to subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, job cost, and fixed assets.
  • Reconciles to statements for bank accounts, debt, escrow, and accrued interest.
  • Agrees and reconciles intercompany accounts to various entities and coordinates cash movement with the chief accounting officer.
  • Reviews income and expense accounts for proper classification.
  • Prepares financial statements including balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statements.
  • Submits financial package for review and approval.
  • Prepares work papers, schedules, and documentation for investors, lenders, regulators, auditors, and tax preparers as needed.
  • Coordinates preparation and review of reports as required by lenders and equity partners.
  • May assist with maintenance of general ledger base account descriptions and detailed explanations of how each account is utilized.
  • Develops and maintains documentation of processes and procedures.
Entity Budgeting for Responsible Portfolio
  • Works with team members to assist with budget creation.
  • Calculates certain budget amounts and provides to the budget preparer.
  • Converts cash-basis budget to create an accrual-basis budget.
System Setup and Maintenance
  • Serves as technical lead with respect to various accounting-related systems. Troubleshoots and resolves system problems, working with IT and/or vendors as needed.
  • May set up new properties/jobs and maintains these setups.
  • Provides technical support to company in the area of accounting systems.
  • Potentially serves as a resource and a trainer for accounting matters.
Relationship Management
  • Provides prompt and courteous service at all times.
  • Performs job responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies.
  • Actively cooperates with all internal service delivery partners to provide optimal service to customers.
  • Follows up with internal and external customers on a regular basis to ensure their business needs and expectations are understood and are being met.
Business Management
  • May onboard new properties and jobs that go into operations, ensuring the entities operate in compliance with all agreements, and all invoices are coded correctly involved with the entity.
  • Coordinates and maintains accounting procedures for assigned responsibilities.
  • Serves as a backup to other accounting positions as assigned.
  • Works with the team to automate manual processes and to implement identified project improvements.
Other duties as assigned Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA preferred.
  • Five years’ minimum accounting experience.
  • Proficient with software systems including Microsoft Word and Excel required. Sage 300 (Timberline), Yardi, and/or Sage FAS a plus.
  • Must remain alert at all times to perform essential functions of the position.
