Our family-owned and operated company is currently seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Prairieville, LA team!
This position is scheduled Monday-Thursday 7am – 4:30pm and Friday 7am – 3:30pm.
Job SummaryThe Staff Accountant supports the day-to-day accounting operations of the organization. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and knowledgeable in accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
- Prepare financial reports and schedules for management review
- Assist with forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations
- Maintain accurate and organized financial records
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of accounting or related experience (internships may count)
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High level of integrity and professionalism
