What it’s like to be an Electrical Test Engineer at BSIA typical day for a test engineer involves creating test set‑ups/test rigs to simulate normal use and conditions of products. Accuracy really matters so initial calibration checks are performed on testing equipment prior to undertaking measurements and recording of any results in accordance to ISO standards. Test Engineers interpret and navigate standards to lead them to perform a test, obtain results and data to generate a verdict to a specific clause.
Outside of testing work you will support the team in scoping out new efficiencies within testing and generate ideas in support of future CAPEX to obtain new equipment and methods. A test engineer will contribute towards a safe working environment, helping identify areas of improvement along with writing and reviewing risk assessments.

What we need from youTo be a successful Test Engineer at BSI you need to have a background in Electrical & Electronic Engineering with knowledge of electrical principles and measurements (electrical & distance measurements). Experience with medical electrical equipment standards – IEC/EN 60601 is a major asset. Ability to use and interpret testing equipment (load banks, multimeters, flash testers, earth bond testers). Project management skills: setting up multiple test rigs and coordinating multiple projects concurrently.
Ability to interpret and report technical data/findings and write test reports using MS Word & Excel. Attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
