Position SummaryThe University of New Mexico, Valencia Campus is accepting applications for Lecturer II or III in Criminal Justice, a full‑time, 9‑month, non‑tenure track position. The position begins August 10, 2026. For best consideration, all application documents must be received by February 16, 2026. The position will remain open until filled.
Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico‑Valencia Campus is a two‑year branch campus. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers vocational and technical courses and academic transfer courses to the citizens of Valencia and northern Socorro counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of approximately 2,500 each semester.

Salary: Base salary for the position is $51,000. An excellent package of benefits is provided. Summer teaching is available but not required, not to exceed 3/9ths of base salary.
Summary of Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide 27 credit hours of classroom instruction across the academic year (fall and spring semesters) in Criminal Justice or related subjects based on the applicant’s qualifications and education. Responsibilities include maintaining attendance, scholastic, and student records; posting and maintaining office hours as per UNM Valencia Campus policy; participating in the lecturer promotion committee, other college committees, curriculum development initiatives, outcomes assessment, professional development (directly related to teaching field);
classroom technology training; departmental projects; and other areas of service and scholarship as appropriate. The position will liaise with the community on matters related to the Criminal Justice program and work to promote and grow the program.
- Complete and up‑to‑date curriculum vitae or resume, including degrees earned, courses taught, credentials/certifications earned, work/industry experience, campus service work, and scholarly work;
- Unofficial transcripts of graduate degrees;
- A cover letter explaining how the candidate meets minimum and preferred qualifications;
- A statement that describes the candidate's teaching philosophy and methodology;
- Documentation of teaching excellence, including two course, peer, and/or supervisor evaluations;
- A list of 3‑5 references with contact information (will be contacted if the candidate becomes a finalist for the position).

Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
- At least one year of teaching experience at the post‑secondary level.
- At least one year of experience teaching criminal justice at a two‑year or community college.
- Experience working with educational and community partners, such as local law‑enforcement agencies.
- Experience building and growing new programs.
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university’s mission to serve local and global communities.
